What is a CBet in Poker?

You might have heard the term CBet before in poker, but are unsure as to what it means exactly. A CBet isn’t a poker rule, but it is a common strategy. Well a CBet stands for continuation bet which is when you bet on the flop after you had raised preflop, hence – the continuation. You are simply following up your own bet, with another bet. This is usually done to represent a strong hand.

CBetting is one of the most common types of betting strategies because you are often doing this in position and you earn more value long term while controlling the hand, your opponent, and the pot size. A typical CBet is 1/2 to 2/3 size of the pot. CBets have a rather high success rate, especially against a single opponent. So let’s look at a typical CBet situation.

With the blinds at 10/20 in the early stages everyone has folded to you and from middle-late position in a single table sit and go, you decide to open-raise your KTos. So you make it 60 chips to go. Everyone, including the small blinds folds to your obvious power hand, except the big blind who calls, adding another 40, to make the pot 130 chips in total. Here comes the flop which has flush and straight chemistry. Your opponent who acts first decides to check to you. Now because of the board having a few draws out there you decide to bet 2/3 pot which is about 85 chips, making the pot now 215. That bet, is a text book continuation bet.

Now lets turn that play around and instead of your opponent checking, he actually led out with a bet of 85. That is not a continuation bet, as he was the one who called your bet preflop. It also negates you from making a cbet, although you always have the option of calling or re-raising. Given the early stages of this sit and go tournament and your small investment in the pot here, I would probably fold the KT rather than call or bluff here.

A C-Bet is a rather standard play against a single opponent, because if you represent strength before the flop, then you can reasonably do the same after the flop. However, against multiple opponents a Cbet is lot more risky and is apt to fail more often. For instance, if there were 3 callers preflop on this hand you stand a rather slim chance in taking this pot down on the flop, especially when it you are just betting king high.

Here are some tips for keeping your CBets profitable. Know what type of player called your preflop bet. Make your CBets smaller if you want to risk less or you happen to flop a huge hand. Also, look to get value from your hand by building the pot in smaller increments against loose aggressive opponents. These are players who are most likely to re-raise you when you have a strong hand.

To learn more about c-betting, watch how other players do it, even when you aren’t in the hand. By paying attention to more experienced poker players you get much more familiar with the game and will develop a keen understanding of the rules of poker.

What the Food Is Like On A Navy Ship

I was in the navy for 8 years, and I’ve had food from navy destroyers, aircraft carriers, submarine tenders, and shore duty galleys.

When a ship is in port, it always had plenty of fresh food on board. Right before a ship pulls out to sea, it is replenished with new food and drink.

If you going to be out to sea for a while, you will start to lose some of the things on board you take for granted. Fresh milk is usually one of the first things to go. They substitute it with powdered milk, and it does not even come close to real milk.

Don’t get me wrong, the food on the ship is actually pretty good, and you get plenty of it!

When you are in port, you have access to the freshest foods the navy has, just like your hometown grocery store pretty much.

When you wake up in the morning, you go down to the galley, and get in the chow line. There might be 10 guys in line by the time you get down to eat, and breakfast is usually served most of the morning, because not everyone can eat at the same time, and it would be over crowded then. On smaller ships, like destroyers and frigates, you usually would have 4 meals a day. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Mid Rats, a small meal that make around midnight for people that are still hungry, and want something to eat.

On the destroyer I was stationed on, we would also regularly have cook outs right on the fantail. We always had a 55 gallon drum that was cut in half, and someone from the Supply Department would be frying cheeseburgers, and that was always nice, even out in the middle of the Indian Ocean, we would be having a cook out.

For breakfast, you can usually order your eggs to order, there will be a cook or 2, that take requests for how you want your eggs made, they had a rule not over 5 eggs, I usually only had 2 most of the time, and I would tell them I want a ham & cheese omelet with 2 eggs, and then after I get my eggs, I move down the chow line, and get whatever else I want to go with that, bacon, sausage, just like a small buffet really.

Usually on Fridays, if we were in port, we would have steak and lobster tails on Fridays. I never even really had a lobster tail until I joined the navy. My dad never liked sea food when I was a kid, so we never had it in our house.

Lunch and dinner were usually like a buffet also, just about anything they had, was a line of good food, and you take what you want, and you can always get a new tray and go back in line again, if you are that hungry.

The aircraft carrier I was on, was actually way too big of a ship for me, and I was so glad I only had to stay on it for 2 weeks. There food was good also, and it had 2 galleys, so that one was always open, if the other closed for cleaning or whatever reason.

When you have roughly 5,000 people on board, you better have a place for them to eat all the time, just like a casino, if the ship had slot machines on it, it would be pretty close to the same atmosphere of a buffet.

When I was in transit somewhere out in the Indian Ocean, I had to go to Saudi Arabia to get on a flight to Italy, and a helicopter flew me and about 5 other enlisted guys out to this USNS ship, and we were supposed to just ride the ship for 2 days, until we got off the ship. They had an enlisted 1st class yeoman that had his own stateroom, which on a regular navy ship, just the officers get.

This was a USNS ship, which meant it had civilian workers, and the navy personnel was support for them. When we ate in their dinning room each day, a waiter would come to our table, and he would take your order. I thought to myself, you have to be kidding me, these guys are wearing civilian clothes, and a waiter is taking their order, and I can’t even believe this is real. They give you a choice of 2 selections, sort of like on an airplane, and they bring you ice cream as dessert, and I thought that was unreal.

Most of the civilians on that boat were not cool like the navy guys, probably because they thought the navy worked for them, which on that ship, they sure did, and I could think of several ways to save the navy a boat load of money!

Submarines get some of the best food in the fleet. They guys are under water sometimes for so long, and could you imagine if they did not have good food?

They have a drink they call bug juice, which is really Kool-aid or a fruit punch drink. You better get used to drinking bug juice, if you like something to drink with your meal, after the fresh milk runs out.

Here is one of the craziest things I’ve witnessed on the ship, and every ship does it! It is such a waste of good food, but I guess you can see how it does protect the states from pests and bugs, but does it really?

When ever you are going out to sea far, you usually stop by Hawaii to get new stores, as they call it, which means you are stocking up the ship with fresh food and meat and stuff like that.

As you travel the world, and then are returning, before you stop by Hawaii, you have to throw all the food that could have any chance of having any type of bug from another country in it, so we have a working party, of maybe 20 guys, and the job is to make a line from the food refrigerators, which a ship has several decks of them, all with elevators to make it all together, and we unload all the food, 50 pound bags of brand new onions, lots and lots of them, big boxes of lettuce, lots of boxes of it.

We throw just about everything this is left in the coolers overboard into the ocean, and all the guys just can’t believe we are throwing all this good food overboard, and we bet a lot of sharks are following the ship, and can you imagine how much food an aircraft carrier would throw over board. An aircraft carrier has a place on the back of the ship for throwing trash into the ocean, but only when you are out 50 miles or more to sea, so it does not wash up on the shore, and so many things are thrown in the ocean, besides food. You can sit and smoke a cigarette, and just watch all the people that have trash to throw in the ocean, pretty bizarre in a way, but you can’t have it pile up on the ship.

I would have to say overall, the food in the navy is good, maybe even great, I would of never thought it would be as nice and plentiful as it was, and some days after being out of the navy, I swear their spaghetti is still the best I ever had in my life!

Latent Homosexuality: Paranoid Delusions Rage and Anxiety

The discussion on latent homosexuality found its way into the public arena when the July 26 edition of MSNBC hyped Ann Coulter’s interview with host Donny Deutsch, which she said of former President Bill Clinton exhibts “some sort of latent homosexuality.” When Coulter was asked by the host if she was indeed calling Clinton a “latent homosexual,” Coulter replied, “Yeah.” “The level of rampant promiscuity by Clinton does show some level of latent homosexuality.” In support of her assessment, of Clinton, Coulter mentioned “passages” she had memorized from the Starr Report resulting from the investigation into the Monica Lewinsky controversy.

Latent homosexuality is an erotic tendency toward members of the same sex which is not consciously experienced or expressed in overt action. The term was originally proposed by Sigmund Freud. According to Freud, “latent” or “unconscious” homosexuality which derived from failure of the defense of repression and and sublimation permit or threaten emergence into consciousness of homosexual impulses, which give rise to conflict manifested in the appearance of symptoms. These symptoms include fear of being homosexual, dreams with manifest and “latent” homosexual content, conscious homosexual fantasies and impulses, homosexual panic, disturbance in heterosexual functioning, and passive-submissive responses to other males.

The Freudian position on latent homosexuality is summarized in this quotation by Karl Abraham: “In normal individuals the homosexual component of the sexual instinct undergoes sublimation. Between men, feelings of unity and friendship become divested of all sexuality. The man of normal feeling is repelled by any physical contact implying tenderness with another of his own sex. …Alcohol suspends these feelings. When they are drinking, men will fall upon one another’s necks and kiss each other … when sober, the same men will term such conduct effeminate. … The homosexual components which have been repressed and sublimated by the influences of education become unmistakably evident under the influence of alcohol.”

In keeping with this train of thoughts, it is not unusual for individuals who exhibit characteristics of latent homosexuality often find themselves drawn to ultra-masculine professions, such as policeman and fireman; to name a few. Many professional sports also serve as a magnet for latent homosexuals, especially the more violent and aggressive sports. The two sports boxing and wresting latent homosexuality is quite evident. And where many of the features involved in the act of intercourse between two lovers are present in the ring. For example, in both boxing and wrestling the participant hug, embrace, stroke the opponent’s sweaty and scantly-covered body like any couple engaged in sexual activities. Many psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapists postulate the theory that both the boxer and the wrestler experience profound rage and guilt for their exhibitionist conduct, and for giving in to their homosexual desires. Therefore, each participant is highly-motivated to punish each other, sometime ending in death, for gratifying the unconscious homosexual desire to embrace and make love to another man.

However, the term, latent homosexuality, as commonly used in clinical practice assumes psychological characteristics. It is important to stress that the term is not used in reference to overt homosexual who attempts to suppress his homosexuality and tries to lead a heterosexual life, it applies only to heterosexuals. Many writers and some researchers have questioned the validity of latent homosexuality on both theoretical and clinical grounds. Others have expressed the opinions that latent homosexuality has been a convenient psychopathological “catch-all” category in which many types pathology are assigned, often, with little or no relationship to homosexuality.

Many who questioned the term “latent homosexuality” were indeed skeptical of the “latency” concept. In an effort to put this concern to rest a group of scientific researchers headed by Irving Bieber published their conclusion in 1963 titled; Homosexuality. A Psychoanalytic Study: By Irving Bieber, et al. This study was very broad and extensive. Bieber and his associated proved beyond doubts that the “latency” concept was an appropriate criteria by which latent homosexuality is usually diagnosed.

However, more than four decades after the Bieber’s study was published skeptism about the vilidity of latent homosexuality is generating lively discussions in the public arena. The gladiators at the Freudian gate should know that help is on the way. A modern day version of Bieber and associates in the form of three psychologist: H. E. Adams, L. W. Wright, Jr., and B. A. Lohr, who conducted an experiment to test Freud’s hypothesis. The conclusion was published in the Journal of Abnormal Psychology 105 (1996), under the title, “Is Homophobia Associates with Homosexual Arousal?” The finding of this study concluded that those who exhabited the most hostile and negative attitudes towards homosexuals demonstrated the hightest level of sexual arousal when exposed to homosexual pornography. In others words, their homophobia was a “reaction formation” designed to protect them from their own internal homosexual desires.

Paranoid Delusions Since the publication of Freud’s analysis of the Schreber case in 1911 psychotherapists and psychoanalysts have accepted the theory that there is a strong connection between latent homosexuality and paranoid delusions. Freud provided a skillful exposition of the theory that paranoid delusions represent various means in which the paranoid individual denies his latent homosexual desires. Freud theory had been confirmed repeatedly in many clinical studies of every researcher who worked with paranoid clients. An intense homosexual conflict is always present in the male paranoiac and is clearly obvious in the individual’s history and clinical material in the early stage of the illness.

Homophobia

Hostility and discrimination against homosexual individuals are well-documented facts. Too often these negative attitudes end in verbal and physical acts of violence against homosexual individuals. In fact, upward of 90% of homosexual men and lesbians report being the subject of verbal abuse and threats, and better than one-third are survivors of violent attacks related to their homosexuality. These attitudes and behaviors toward homosexuals are labeled homophobia. Homophobia is defined as terror of being in close quarters with homosexual men and women, and an irrational fear, hatred, and intolerance by heterosexual individuals of homosexual men and lesbians.

Psychoanalysts use the concept of repressed or latent homosexuality to explain the emotional malaise and irrational attitudes exhibited by individuals who feel guilty about their erotic interests and struggle to deny and repress homosexual impulses. In fact, when these individuals are placed in a situation that threatens to excite their own unwanted homosexual thoughts, they may overreact with panic, anger, or even murderous rage. To better understand this rage I direct the reader to what happened on Jenny Jones show. On March 06, 1995, Scott Amedure (who’s openly gay) appeared with Jonathan Schmitz on Jenny Jones talk show. Amedure revealed that he had a secret affection for Schmitz. Schmitz was not flattered, rather, he felt embarrassed and humiliated; off camera Schmitz expressed anger and rage. Three days after the show Schmitz purchased a shotgun. He drove to Amedure’s trailer and shot him twice through the heart, killing him.

It is commonly agreed among most researchers that anxiety about homosexuality typically does not occur in individuals who are same-sex oriented, but usually involves individuals who are ostensibly heterosexual and have difficulty coming to term with their homosexual feelings and impulses.

What Is the Difference Between Land and a Lot?

The terms “lot” and “land” may be quite similar, but in the realm of construction, there are huge dissimilarities. First of all, all lots can be considered land but not all pieces of land can be considered lots. And here are the definitions:

The lot is a property ready for building a house. It usually is provided with all the utilities, including water, sewer, gas, electricity, telephone, etc. However, if they are not on the site, they’re not so far away.

The land is a property without habitable structures. A raw land is a term that defines a piece of property that is not yet ready for building.

The best choice for you is to buy a lot. It is much cheaper and it helps you obtain a construction loan a lot easier. A raw land also requires additional expenses in order to make the piece of land become habitable, and the extra costs are very high. It also implies spending a lot of time and energy.

All these factors influence the lender’s decision when analyzing your loan score. And there are many chances that you wouldn’t get the desired loan because of the raw land.

In case of raw pieces of land, the banks consider the risks as being higher and fewer banks offer a loan in such cases. A piece of raw land is also less marketable than a finished lot and therefore, fewer buyers are eager to invest their time, money and effort in such a property.

The Chastity Cage – And Why Your Man Will Beg to Wear One

A chastity cage is something many, many men will beg to wear for their wives and girlfriends… and then beg them to take the key, leaving them unable to orgasm with you, by themselves or with another… unless… and until… and only IF you ever… give your permission.

But what is a…

Chastity Cage

Chastity cages are typically exactly the name suggests: a more-or-less penis-shaped cage, made form plastic or metal, that completely encloses his penis so he can’t stimulate it enough to have an orgasm. Unlike a chastity belt, a cage is usually held in place by a ring that goes around the scrotum and base of the penis behind the testicles themselves.

Yes, it sounds awful but I have it on good authority they can be very comfortable and can be worn 24/7. And I trust my source… because… it’s my husband, and he’s locked 24/7 and is in the process of enduring a whole year of strict orgasm denial while locked in his chastity cage (he has consented to this and is perfectly happy with the arrangement).

But why? What makes a man want to give up such an essential part of his sexuality to you?

Well, contrary to popular belief your man does not have to be strange or submissive to want to wear a chastity cage for you. The reasons are complex and come down partly to biology (the repeated tease and denial and the long-term wanting to come are the closest he’s ever going to get to a multiple orgasm); and partly to psychology (there’s a thrill in power-exchange for many men… and for many of us women, too, once we realise it’s just harmless fun and nothing to be afraid of).

You’ll find your man wearing a chastity cage will make him more loving and communicative, and more willing to help around the house. And he’ll do this not because he’s necessarily feeling submissive, but because his feelings will make him close to you, and people who are close like to do nice things for each other, don’t they?

The bottom line is men love to wear a chastity cage, and any man who is wearing one is doing so only because he wants to. The stories you read about men being ‘forced’ to wear then are just that – stories.

And if you’re looking for reliable, serious and genuine information about male chastity cages and you are SICK and TIRED of the nonsense and bare-faced LIES people tell about being ‘forced’ to do it, then it makes sense to listen to someone who’s living the lifestyle 24/7, doesn’t it?

Pros and Cons of Receiving a Scholarship

You may be wondering if getting a scholarship is all it’s cracked up to be. Sure, it’s always great to receive money that you’re not expected to pay back, but are there any drawbacks to getting a scholarship. As it turns out there are pluses and minuses to receiving scholarship money. The obvious plus is that you get money that you need for school that you won’t have to take out in the form of a loan. This money will go towards things like tuition, room and board, books, supplies, your computer, and anything else related to school.

You definitely don’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth but there are some things that you’ll be expected to do in order to receive the scholarship money, and keep receiving it each semester. Many scholarship awards have minimum requirements that you’ll be expected to have in order to get the award in the first place, but you’ll also be required to maintain these minimums each semester you expect to keep getting it. What’s great about a scholarship is that it’s usually not a one-off. You can renew it for as long as you go to college, depending on if you keep your grades up and meet all other expectations. Some scholarships will want you to maintain a certain GPA, while others will expect you to get involved with extra-curricular activities or put in volunteer hours in order to get your money.

If you come to rely on your scholarship money, but have a bad semester, it can be financially devastating having your money rescinded or not qualifying for it for future semesters.

When compared to grants, scholarships usually have more strings attached, but since they are renewable it balances out. When you receive a grant, many times it’s a one-time award. If you want to receive it again you have to reapply and get re-accepted. The beauty of grants is that you rarely will have to do anything outside of applying for them. If you apply for a grant and are awarded the grant, the money just shows up either by direct deposit or in the form of a check. With a scholarship they will not only verify that you’re eligible to receive it, they’ll check with the school to make sure that you’re still keeping your end of the bargain, and all money will be sent to the college directly to pay for things. You’ll only get the leftovers to do with as you please.

Of course it’s better to get a scholarship than to not get a scholarship. Just don’t be surprised when you find out all of the other things that come with getting one. They are often glamorized and thought of as the Holy Grail of free money for college. Some scholarships cause stress in the form of keeping the minimum requirements. It’s up to you to decide if it’s worth it or not.

How to Take Care of and Repair Your Kid's Wetsuit

It is water play time of your kids again. Children love to play in the water and devise all sorts of water games. Whether its spring, summer or fall season, children do not seem to stop their fascination with water.

In order to protect your children from the cold water temperature, your children need a kids wetsuit. Wetsuits are important for your children's protection because they are the most vulnerable to illnesses such as colds, cough and fever. Childrens wetsuits are perfect to keep your children safe while they get their fun.

However, accidents can happen. Children's play and rigorous activities can cause the wetsuit to rip off. This is potentially especially especially at the beach where the wetsuit can encounter small to medium sized rocks and other rough objects and surfaces. Good thing that there is a way to repair kids wetsuit accidents like this that you can do on your own.

The essential material that you need in repairing a wet suit is neoprene cement. The neoprene cement will be used to path the tear or hole together. Neoprene cement is available in surf shops. Just go ahead and ask for it. There are also wetsuits repair kits available. When you buy a wetsuit, it's probably a good idea that you get a repair kit, too, for emergencies.

What you need to do first, like all patches, is to clean the torn area. Clear the torn area with any particles such as sand or dust. This is to make sure that the area will patch cleanly. After cleaning the area with soap and water, clean it with alcohol and let it dry.

Use a brush to put neoprene cement on surfaces that needs to be patched up. Leave it to dry for 5 minutes. After that, apply neoprene cement again on the torn areas and this time, leave it for 10 minutes. Afterwards, it is time to glue the torn parts together. Press the two parts together by using some kind of weight like a heavy book. Wait more or less for 6 hours. When it's completely dry, you have successfully repaired your child's wetsuit! You can make the wetsuit working really well again, enough to protect you from cold water temperatures.

This do-it-yourself technique, however, is only applicable for small holes and rips. If the hole is much bigger or you think that it requires more than just gluing the parts together, you can bring the wetsuit to a repair shop. It may need a new neoprene patch or some heavy duty repair. It's best to leave it to the experts when that happens.

If the wetsuit is also damaged because of overuse, it is better not to use it anymore. If the color is already too faded or if the neoprene is already getting hard from the water and sun, it's better to buy a new one. Most kids wetsuits are made to be very durable. Surely by the time it's overused, your children have already outgrown the suit. It's time for a newer, cooler one!

How to Handicap Horse Races With First Time Starters

They say everybody has to start somewhere and the same is true of young race horses who are starting a career in racing. The problem for bettors who want to wager on races with horses who have never raced before, known as “first time starters, or (FTS),” is that it is hard to assess their ability and therefore would be punters don’t know whether to bet on them or against them.

Some handicapping gurus advise you to skip any race with an FTS. However you may miss a lot of races that way, especially in the spring when the maidens are flooding the scene. You may also miss some good bets that way. Here are a few tips for betting on maiden races and evaluating horses who have never competed.

First of all, most maiden races are about speed. Do your best to compare the speed ratings of horses who have at least one race. Be aware that for many trainers the first race is just practice and the runner may not have been pushed in its first race, in fact, the jockey may not have tried to win the race because the trainer wanted the youngster to just get some experience and make it around the track in one piece.

So for a horse with just one race, expect an improvement in the next race, especially if it is dropping slightly in class. After you’ve evaluated the experienced runners look for any who have shown a lot more speed than the others. That horse is obviously the one most of the crowd will bet on and should be the favorite in the race.

Now look at the FTS horses and see if any have breeding that indicates a win in the first race. That means a sire known for precocious foals. Any sire whose progeny win at a 16% rate on their first try is considered a sire of precocious foals and the horse should be considered a contender. Trainers sometimes have a record of winning with FTS horses as well so check the stats on each conditioner and determine if he or she likes to win with FTS horses.

Now it’s time to look at the workouts that the runners have shown. FTS horses should have a string of workouts leading up to the races that are evenly spaced, at least one a week, though every five days is better, that show the horse is being conditioned. Only one or two workouts is suspicious unless you know the horse has been training off track at a private farm.

Once you’ve evaluated the runners and have determined which ones are contenders based on those who’ve shown speed and those who have the connections or breeding it is time to do your final assessment and that involves looking at the horses. A well conditioned horse has a muscled haunch with a well defined racing dimple that shows it is in shape. The racing dimple is the deep groove that runs down the big muscle on a horse’s haunch.

A first time starter should not be too nervous or sweating profusely. If it is, pass on that one. If there are too many FTS you may want to pass the race. Look at the odds board and see if any of the FTS horses are being bet down. Odds of 5-1 or less on an FTS may indicate that it is well thought of by the backside denizens and that could mean it has been training well and they think its ready to win. Watch the money in a maiden race and you’ll often find the winner. Favorites often win those “baby” races as they are sometimes called because raw speed is hard to hide and that’s what dominates when the runners are short on experience and just want to run.

If your calculations agree with the odds board and you think there is value in a bet, don’t be afraid to put a flutter on a runner to win as long as you remember that betting on horse races is risky business and you should never eager more than you can afford to lose. Enjoy your days at the races.
