Barbie Marketing

You may be wondering what Barbie Marketing is … I do not blame you – the first time I heard the term, my 12 year old son was spouting it at the top of his lungs in the Mall. It did not take me long to realize he was talking about all the girls walking around in Barbie Costumes. You know the kind, high heels, jewelry and bling bling, hair that took two hours to perfect, and clothing that came from a designer rack, with too much makeup on the face of a girl too young to be that much into 'fashion' . Do not they play with dolls anymore?

Barbie Marketing is a hunk magnet for girls looking for guys.

At least, according to the 12 year old know-it-all who lives at my house. Little did I know, he knew this because his big brother had told him how much he liked the Babes in the Barbie Pink Costumes. But I was learning. For the fashion conscious want to be chick magnet, Barbie Pink Costumes were a major attraction.

Barbie Marketing is Fashionably Pink with Black and White Accents.

When I asked about the specifics, I was given well defined details including the simple fact that Barbie Marketing is Fashionably Pink (with Black and White Accents of course). "It usually includes anything that would go well with diamonds and Bling Bling," according to my 12 year old know-it-all.

Barbie Marketing is Bling Bling with Style.

Everyday girls do not do bling bling well. They usually dress too simply, without enough accessories, and their shoes look comfortable. Ahem, and they know this how? "My girlfriend wears just enough bling bling to have a lot of class, but too much bling bling is really really gosh," the 12 year old genius again?

"You have a girlfriend?" I stand amazed at the promise.

"Well, I'm going steady," he admits casually with a shrug of his shoulders, "but we're not dating or anything until her dad ungrounds her."

"Dating?" My simple mind just lost total control, I'm losing it fast. "What constituents dating?"

"When we eat at the lunch table, or sit together in youth group, Mom. You know, dating?" His eyes are rolling around in his head like marbles in the school yard, and he thinks I know?

"Well, dear, let me know two weeks before you and Ms Barbie Marketing get married and I'll find a wedding gift for you." I smile at him, ruffle his hair and we leave the mall.

"Mom, you're so out of touch!" There go those eyes again …

A Short History of Apple

Since its humble beginnings as a computer company flogging hand built machines conceived by an out of work college dropout, the Apple empire has certainly come far. Today, Apple Inc has almost 50,000 employees and reported a $14 billion profit in 2010, becoming one of the most valuable computer technology companies in the world. Moreover, it has become a unique brand phenomenon with Apple products being snatched up all across the world – and consumers are still clamouring for more.

From the first Apple I to the iPhone 4 – here’s a look back at some of big Apple wins and a few of its failures through the years.

1976 – Apple was first founded on 1 April 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. Wayne subsequently sold his share of the company back to his partners for $800. The first offering by the company was a hand built Apple I personal computer retailing for $666.66.

1977 – The Apple II was introduced. Boasting colour graphics, open architecture and a floppy disk drive interface, the Apple II was positioned well ahead of its competitors and subsequently became the personal computer of choice for the business world with the VisiCalc spreadsheet program.

1983 – The Apple Lisa was launched, the first to feature a Graphical User Interface (GUI).

1984 – Apple launches the Macintosh with its powerful TV commercial directed by Ridley Scott. The Mac was a success thanks to its advanced graphical capabilities – perfect for desktop publishing.

1985 – Co-founder Steve Jobs resigns from Apple and goes on to develop a new computer company, NeXT Inc.

1989 – 1991 – Macs go portable with the Macintosh Portable and the PowerBook, which set the ground for the layout and ergonomic design for most future laptops and personal computers.

1986 – 1993 – During this time, Apple produces a few product flops including a digital camera, portable CD players and video consoles. The Newton was Apple’s foray into portable handheld computing devices but also had limited success.

1996 – Apple purchases NeXT, bringing Steve Jobs back into Apple as an advisor. He eventually became the interim CEO until 2000 when he officially stepped into the role permanently.

1998 – The iMac, with its advanced digital video editing capabilities, would become the launching pad for Apple’s return to being a computer industry leader.

2001 – Apple introduces the first generation iPod which would revolutionise the digital music industry and become hugely successful with almost 300 million iPod units in its various forms and generations sold since its debut.

2003 – To follow up on the iPod’s success, Apple launches its iTunes store.

2005 – Apple releases its popular line of Intel powered computers with the introduction of the popular MacBook, MacBook Pro and iMac. These would eventually come to replace its previous models of the PowerBook, iBook and Power Mac. Today, the Intel powered models have been updated and re-released and continue to be some of the most popular computer models sold today.

2007 – The first Apple iPhone is launched revolutionising smart phone technology and mobile computing. The App Store allowed third party developers to make and distribute iPhone compatible applications, including some of the most popular games today, like Words with Friends and Angry Birds.

2010 – Continuing to blaze new paths, Apple introduces the iPad tablet computer that worked with all iPhone applications. The iPad has already sold almost 15 million units in its first year and consumers are already looking to buy or rent an iPad 2.

Today, Apple fans are waiting for more updates on their favourite products with the iPhone 5 and the iPad 2 expected to debut in 2011.

Why Does YouTube Crash? How to Fix YouTube Crashes

It is certainly frustrating when YouTube crashes on you while watching an online video, sometimes even taking crashing your browser with it. Just like with many other computer-related issues, a YouTube crash is often taken for granted by many folks. If your YouTube is slow or YouTube freezes on you, there are easy ways to solve this problem. Below are a few recommended ways to fix YouTube crashes so that you can watch your online videos or upload your own videos without any worries.

Clear your cache and history. Watching a lot of videos will fill up your browser’s cache fast and will also clutter up your browser history. Clearing your cache and history will make sure your browser has enough resources to play videos smoothly and without glitches. Additionally, this will also make other websites load faster and it will also make your browser launch more quickly.

Update your sound drivers and Flash player. A lot of online videos depend heavily on Adobe’s Flash player to deliver their content to your computer. Often times, users neglect to update this piece of software which leads to a lot of crashes in YouTube. A corrupted Flash player not only causes issues with YouTube but other sites as well and is often a major security hole that lets malware into your computer if not updated regularly. A Flash update often includes speed upgrades as well so not only will it solve YouTube crashes, it will also make videos load faster and run smoother.

Fix your registry. File association errors are a big reason why YouTube keeps crashing. These are found in your system registry and not only affect your browser, but also other programs as well. The ideal tool to fix this is a registry cleaning tool. This simple and handy app makes it easy to put your registry in order to fix any ActiveX and similar errors preventing your online videos from running smoothly.

Your system registry is an important part of your computer system and keeping it healthy and full-functioning not only fixes YouTube crashes but also makes your entire PC run more efficiently. While this doesn’t ensure you won’t get a YouTube crash in the future, it will certainly keep them at a minimum. So you don’t need to worry anymore about YouTube crashing the next time you watch a viral video or even when you’ve been rickrolled.

Unable to Load Dll Error and How to Fix It

Dll errors are one of the most common types of computer errors. They are also the most difficult to troubleshoot. If you’re seeing a message on your computer screen that says unable to load dll, chances are your registry may be to blame. There are 2 steps you can take to correct this issue. The registry is where all the references to installed applications are stored. Sometimes, other applications overwrite important entries in the registry database belonging to the original application. If this happens you can do the following:

1.Uninstall the application and restart. By uninstalling the application you are allowing the registry to be refreshed with new accurate references to the specified dll. An uninstall should always be followed by a restart, no ifs, and or buts. The registry will not be rewritten and updated unless you restart.

2.Reinstall the application. Once the install completes, try opening the application again. If you’re still seeing unable to load dll error, chances are the application had what’s called a dependency. There is no easy way to find what dependency is missing. Therefore, you’ll have to scan your computer for missing or invalid registry errors to solve this issue.

Luckily, there are a wide range of products on the market that can quickly fix your registry without much effort. Even better, you can try them out for free. One of the best registry cleaners on the market is a program called ErrorFix. Judging from my experience with the software, it will fix virtually any dll error you may be having.

Activity Diagrams – Advantages, Disadvantages and Applications of Use

Activity diagrams describe the actual work flow behavior of a system in Information Technology. These diagrams are very similar to state Diagrams because activities are the actual state of doing something. These diagrams describe the actual state of activities of a system by showing all the sequence of activities performed. Also, these diagrams can show activities that are conditional or parallel.

When to Use: Activity Diagrams

Activity diagrams should be used in alignment with other modeling techniques like interaction diagrams and State diagrams. The main reason behind using these diagrams is to model the work flow behind the system being designed. these Diagrams are also useful for analyzing a use case by describing what actions need to take place and when they should occur, describing a complicated sequential algorithm and modeling applications with parallel processes.

Activity diagrams’ advantages:

  • UML modeling language included that these diagrams are normally easily comprehensible for both analysts and stakeholders.
  • In UML for the IT Business Analyst, “The activity diagram is the one most useful to the IT BA for depicting work flow [because] it is simple to understand-both for BAs and end-users.”
  • Since they are among the most user-friendly diagrams available, they are generally regarded as an essential tool in an analyst’s repertoire.
  • Additionally, as stated above, activity diagrams allow an analyst to display multiple conditions and actors within a work flow through the use of swimlanes. Swimlanes, however, are optional as a single condition or actor is normally displayed without them.

Activity diagrams’ disadvantages:

UML modeling language include that these diagrams have the potential to become overly complex because their user-friendly nature may lend itself to an all-inclusive description. In other words, since it is so simple to display the information related to the project, why not include all of it? When an analyst has a large project, creating a single, overly complex diagram can be a temptation.

However, as one author notes, “if you are using activity diagrams to define the structure of a work flow, you should not attempt to explore several levels of activity graphs down to their most ‘atomic’ level”. Instead, an analyst should try to present a new diagram for each work flow, or if more applicable, to use swimlanes to present different actors within the same work flow.

Another aspect of these diagrams is that they may not be used in lieu of a state diagram or sequence diagram because “activity diagrams do not give detail about how objects behave or how objects collaborate.” This is not a disadvantage per se, but it is important for an analyst to keep in mind when applying diagrams to their work.

In conclusion, activity diagrams are fairly easy to get the hang of, and will be useful for most projects because they plainly and moderately clearly demonstrate how things work.” Unlike many diagramming techniques, these diagrams also enable the depiction of multiple choices and actors within a work flow, and they are easy for even non-technical users to follow

Applications of activity diagram:

This diagram has been extended to specify flows among steps that transmit physical matter (e.g., gasoline) or energy (e.g., torque, pressure).

  • Additional changes allow the diagram to better support continuous behaviors and continuous data flows.
  • The UML 2 specification significantly prolonged the features and scale of activity diagrams beyond their earlier classification as a special case of state diagrams.
  • Today, activity diagrams can be thought of as flow charts for the 21st century, and UML modelers use activity diagrams to describe it.
  • Also, these diagrams are useful in following methods:
  • Business Rules
  • Functions that occur in parallel
  • Complex chain of multiple use cases
  • Software flows and logic control configurations
  • Procedures with judgment points and alternate flows
  • Single use cases

World of Warcraft Classes

In World of Warcraft (WoW), there are a total of 9 playable classes. You can not freely choose race and class, as it is somewhat limited. Not all races can be combined with all classes. To choose your class will be your most important choice in the game. This is because you define your play style within WoW with your class, whether it is healing and support, dealing much damage, or be the one who takes the damage and controls the monsters. Do not fear; there are a few roads you can walk within each class as well which you can change whenever you want. These “roads” are called talents. With talents, you specialize in a part of your class. For every level you achieve, you gain one talent point which you can spend on whatever talent tree you want. Every class has three talent trees. In other words, you can walk three different roads with your character per class.

A warrior is strongly specialized in fighting with powerful two-handed weapons to deal damage or with a one-handed weapon and a shield to take all the pounding from a monster (called tanking). Very wanted for Arena teams as damage dealer and very wanted for instances and raid dungeons as tank. Warriors have the following talent trees: Arms (Damage), Fury (Damage) and Protection (Tank).

A druid is a hybrid class. The druid is at one with nature, and is able to transform into different animals which have various unique abilities. Hybrid means that the class can perform several tasks, and the forms have a boost each to help them with a specific task. For instance, Bear Form makes them tougher and more resilient allowing them to tank with ease. Druids have the following talent trees: Balance (Spell damage), Feral Combat (Melee damage and tanking) and Restoration (Healing and support).

Priests are magical users able to perform holy and shadowy magic. Their shadow spells are mostly used to cause damage on foes; however there are certain support abilities which are shadow magic. The priest is the main healing class with its manifold of holy support and healing spells. Priests have the following talent trees: Discipline (Survivability), Holy (Healing) and Shadow (Damage).

Paladins are guardians of the holy light. They bolster their allies and themselves with holy auras and blessings to protect and empower them. Paladins are a defensive class designed to outlast their enemies. It is also a hybrid class, capable of healing, dealing decent damage and tanking. Paladins have the following talent trees: Retribution (Damage), Holy (Healing) and Protection (Survivability and Tanking).

A mage is a magical user with frost, fire and arcane spells. They deal massive damage from afar, casting elemental bolts at a single target, or raining destruction down upon their foes in a wide area. Mages are also masters of slowing and temporarily immobilizing the enemy, enabling mages to get away easily. Mages have the following talent trees: Arcane (Burst damage), Fire (High damage) and Frost (Survivability).

Warlocks are masters of demonic power, shadow and flame, plaguing their enemies with curses and diseases. They are also able to summon several demonic pets, each with its speciality. While warlocks deal ranged damage, their pets may attack at melee range and support the warlock and the warlock’s allies. They can also summon other people from anywhere in the world. Warlocks have the following talent trees: Affliction (Curses and debuffs), Demonology (Pet) and Destruction (Direct damage).

Rogues are masters of stealth and assassination, and they’re able to pass by most enemies unseen and attack them from behind. Rogues can also create poisons which they one on their blade to add extra damage or negative effects on the victim. Rogues usually have two quick one-handed weapons dual-wielded, making them valuable for interrupting casters of magic. They are also able to open locked doors and chests. Rogues have the following talent trees: Assassination, Combat and Subtlety.

A shaman is the spiritual leader of their tribe. They are a magic-based semi-hybrid class. They are masters of the Elements, enabling them to place elemental empowered totems which benefit the Shaman’s allies or have a negative effect on enemies. They are good healers and damage dealers. Shamans have the following talent trees: Elemental (Spell damage), Enhancement (Melee damage) and Restoration (Healing).

Hunters are deadly snipers, capable of bringing their enemies down from a long distance with bows or guns. They can track enemies and place traps to damage or entrap their opponent. Hunters also have the ability to tame beasts in the world as pets and train them to become loyal guardians. Hunters have the following talent tress: Beast Mastery (Pet), Marksmanship (High Damage) and Survival (Damage and survivability).

How to Get Your Customers to Buy

It can be generally said that all people buy to satisfy some goal or need. Human needs are many and varied, ranging from the basic physical needs of Shelter, food and safety essential for survival, through the need to satisfy personal vanity, to intellectual and spiritual satisfaction.

It is said that money can not buy you love – sometimes it can not, but florists, card shops and jewelers can make a good profit out of helping it along the way. Retailers of cosmetics sell dreams of beauty, sophistication and youth – satisfying our egos.

People buy clothes to keep warm, but more are sold because people wish to project a variety of images – they need to belong and socialize. In each case the consumer is motivated by the benefits that can derive from the purchase and less by the pure physical attributes of the merchandise. They do not buy products: they seek to acquire benefits.

It is certainly difficult to identify why people make certain purchases. Thorough studying of the needs of your customers would surely help your understanding, but how practical would such an exercise be? It is easier and more practical to attempt to identify the benefits that customers seek in satisfying a need or collection of needs, rather than the needs themselves.

To start you off on this process, start to identify the benefits you bought when making purchases. The first thing you will probably find is that the decision to buy was not affected solely by benefits attached to the product itself, but equally or even more so by other benefits derived, for example, from the price, the image, location, reputation of The shop, the existence of additional services and so on.

The reality is successful businesses integrate their products' benefits into a more comprehensive benefits package. They attempt to build an image that differentiates them in a positive way from the competition. If they are successful, then customer will always identify the business first before going on to make decisions apprehensaining to the products or brand.

It is not that the product is ignored, but rather that the benefits which are associated with it become inseparable from the overall business image.

The implications for you are clear. While highlighting the benefits attached to the product you sell, you must try to focus the customer's mind ahead on the benefits of buying from you.

How to Permanently Delete Files – Using Windows Secret Built-In Tool

You may or may not know that when you drag items to the trash on your computer, they are not permanently deleted. Just watch an episode of your favorite CSI show, and you'll see that its possible to recover files that have not been deleted properly. And while I'm sure you're not guilty of any CSI type crimes (or are you?), I'm sure you want to figure out how to permanently delete your files and keep your private things private – after all everyone has To have some secrets!

Why emptying your recycling bin does not permanently delete your files

When you tell your computer to empty its recycling bin, your operating system only deletes the records it has the files you want to delete. Yet the files still remain on the hard drive memory.

Here's an analogy: If you think of your files as books in a library and you decide you no longer have use for a certain book. Empty the trash is equivalent to removing the entry in the library's card catalog. The book is still there but not easily found by everyday visitors. But if someone really wanted to find it, and had a clue where to look, they quite probably do so since it is still physically there.

What it means to permanently delete a file

To permanently delete a file, you need to not only delete its record, but also overwrite the physical portion of the hard drive where it lives. A low level format is equivalent to replacing your private file with random bits (1's and 0's). Continuing with the library analogy you need to remove remove the book, shred it, light up in flames and possibly replace it with a different book

A simple way to permanently delete?

According to Microsoft, there is a keyboard shortcut in Windows to, quote, "permanently delete files". You do this by selecting your file and hitting SHIFT + DEL. Convinced? Neither am I. What they're really explaining is a shortcut from having to move the item to the trash and then emptying the trash.

Take it a step further

Here's a poor man's version of permanent deletion. Delete your files, empty your recycle bin, and run Disk Defragmenter located in the Start menu under Accessories / System Tools. What this will do is optimize your hard drive by rearranging (most) of your files, and in doing so will most likely overwrite the files you want permanently deleted. Nice!

Do it right and do it better

While performing a defragmentation will probably do the trick, it's really not a viable solution. Waiting for disk defragmentation is not something I do do every time I wanted to do a permanent deletion. The defragmentation process is way too long. The right way to how to permanently and quickly delete files is to use a program specifically designed for that purpose. You're in luck too because most Windows operating systems have a command line tool called CIPHER to do the trick!

Here's how to use CIPHER:

1. After closing all windows, open up a command window.

2. Type the following: cipher / w: driveletter: foldername where driveletter and foldername correspond to the drive a location of where your deleted file used to live.

3. Sit back and enjoy your freedom and privacy while your file is truly permanently deleted!

Here's an example:

I have a picture I want permanently deleted which stored on my computer at the following location:

C: images scandalous_picture.jpg

After deleting this picture and emptying the recycle bin, I would type the following (in a command prompt) to ensure that I can still run for senator (as long as they do not catch me in the airport bathroom):

C:> cipher / w: C: images

I can then move on to my life of privacy and carefree surfing!

You can do better!

Although I'm comfortable working with the command prompt, you may not be. No worries, there are plenty of other graphical based software tools that perform true permanent file deletion – not to mention that they are much less tedious to use. The review at gives a good overview of some of the most popular graphic-based file deletion software available.

How to Get a Mobile Phone Repaired

Mobile phones have become quite a part of our lives. We require a phone quite frequently, whether we are at work or at home. If your phone stops functioning, that becomes a cause of serious concern. The first thing that you should do is to send it for repair work at a mobile phone repair shop.

Every manufacture has its own repair station. They have technicians available who figure out the problem and hand over the repaired phone to you.

These days, with the growing demand of cell phones, the manufactures are bound to manufacture them in large numbers. It is quite possible that some handsets might have a manufacturing default in the process. If you have bought a handset with such a fault, then it is replaced by the manufacturer immediately.

Generally all the handsets come with a 1 year warranty period, if the damage is caused in this period, then it is repaired free of cost. Any physical damage is not included in this.

If the fault occurs after the expiration of warranty, then you have to pay for any repairs. Apart from the cost of the damaged part, you also have to bear the service charges. It is always better to ask the total cost of repair beforehand because sometimes this cost is more than the cost of a new handset.

So instead of paying the same amount, you can get a new handset for yourself. You can also get it repaired from a local repair shop. Local dealers charge comparatively lower fees.

Some Ways Of Repairing Your Phone Yourself

If your phone gets drenched in water, then remove the battery immediately and place it in a cool dry place so that the battery is not damaged. Do not use the phone if it gets heated up regularly after talking for some time. Instead go to the mobile phone repair station and inform them about the same. Your phone might be faulty and it might explode if used repeatedly.

You should also take care while downloading something from the Internet or through the Bluetooth technology. You may download viruses which can harm your cell phone by deleting the contacts and corrupting all other files. Some viruses can damage the whole software and you have to get the software installed again. Therefore you should download only known and trusted sources.

If your phone gets damaged, then do not panic. You can apply any of these measures, if they do not work, then take your mobile for repair to a mobile phone repair shop.
